You know, what half of Russian men dies of drunkenness?
Half of the Russian men dying at able-bodied age, perish because of drunkenness. To such conclusion the British scientists have come. Results of their researches are published on Friday in medical magazine «The Lancet».
Scientists mention not only the excessive use of alcoholic drinks, but also the use of not food liquids with the high maintenance of alcohol.
In particular, scientists have paid attention to medicinal production, for example, grassy tinctures which are on sale in drugstores, stand very cheaply and can contain to 97 percent of alcohol. As the published research affirms, that though these preparations are not toxic, because of very high maintenance of alcohol are mortally dangerous.
In research it is underlined, that average life expectancy of the Russian men (59 years) is "exclusively low", and men of able-bodied age die in Russia in three and a half time more often, than in the Great Britain.
Scientists have studied destruction of 1750 men at the age from 25 till 54 years which have died with 2003 for 2005 in Izhevsk which British named «a typical Russian city».
The research including interrogation of relatives died, has shown, that the reason of 43 percent of death became or the excessive use of beer, wine and other spirits, or not food liquids. Strongly drinking men die six times more often those who does not drink in general, or drinks, but has no alcoholic dependence. Those who drinks the liquids which have been not intended for the use inside, perish in 9 times more often.
Professor David Leon (David Leon), heading research, has underlined, that the quantity of victims because of alcohol can be still above as its group worked only with the men living in families. The director of institute of researches of alcohol (The Institute of Alcohol Studies) (Andrew McNeill), in turn, asserts Andrew Maknejll, that the alcoholism wide circulation is peculiar to the Eastern Europe as a whole. The reason of such state of affairs the scientist names that Russia has gone through the Soviet period when «alcohol was the only thing that people presumed», and also social problems existing now.
